Website Freelancing
Decided to do more work with website lately, latest completed website: http://gigsurfer.ca. Scott has done a great job with the concept and artwork, I felt honored to help him out on the technical side of things in completing the job. Glad that wordpress + buddypress + a bunch of my hacks had made it easier for managing his own website.
Learning Japanese and Portuguese
Lately I have sparked in the mode and effort of learning a new language. Reading and practicing every day on my way to and from work. Can’t say I have gone much farther than simple greetings and sentences. But I am working on it =).
Taking a japanese class right now, the sensai says, read these (“sheets”) EVERYDAY
Cooking
It is time to make all the food I haven’t had a chance to make for all this time…
Miniature Food
I have decided that I will make start modeling some of the stuff that I eat or food that I make. Wait up for some pictures later.
Custom T-shirts
Scenario: Screening a t-shirt with custom content costs way too much! They have restrictions like I need to make 12 prints minimal, and proper art files.
There are little print shops that has spur recently by selling $20 shirts with t-shirt transfers. But they have no idea how to print my stuff properly, being a ex graphic designer, I was a little upset that they photoshopped things, and didn’t develop designs in illustrator.
I want original, cute, or funny t-shirt ideas made into t-shirts, for me and my friends.
Solution: I started making my own, and made that into a business of my own.
I ordered garments from online vendors. I collected orders and ideas from people I know (so that I am not a print shop making knock offs), I then channelled them to my friends in graphic design who turned those into vector graphics. I screened all single color designs by myself, and used t-shirt transfers for muti-color pictures. A original t-shirt without walking out my apartment or theirs =).
A few recent orders: “PDENG sucks”, “Furries are friends”, “As a matter of fact, the world does revolve around me” and exec on duty bandannas.
Proof that it’s quite doable and economical… not paying someone $20 when I can do a better job myself. My most popular and profitable creation is available online.
It’s still going, not actively working on it, give me a shout if you want something done
Digital Board System
I am tired of paper, and making tags, and doing registration manually. So I think I am going to try something in the fall term again. Where users just sign in and out with their watcard… and games are arranged on the monitor…
Phrase one – UI & feasibility test – Completed, I got a friend to write me a UI in python, and tested out the scanner.
Phrase Two – Develop models of interaction and specification, costs of system, and solve hardware issues related to the software system …. that’s kinda done…
Phrase Three – Playing with barcode… with registration processes…
Development put on hold because I forgot to pack it to japan… somewhat fail of me…
